Now based in Berlin, Adolf Smári Unnarsson (b.1993) is an Icelandic writer, opera and theatre director. After studying at the Iceland University of the Arts, he graduated as a director in 2023 from the prestigious theatre academy DAMU in Prague.
His works have been performed in Iceland (The National Theatre of Iceland, Tjarnarbíó Theatre, Afturámóti theatre), Poland (Gdański Teatr Szekspirowski) and the Czech Republic (Divadlo DISK) and have been translated into Czech, English, German and Polish.
He has been nominated for several prizes, including Director of the year and Newcomer of the year at the Icelandic Theatre Awards.
